Payments, Refunds & Disputes Policy

1. Platform Fees

GigsGenius charges a 10% platform commission only on successfully completed milestones. This fee is deducted from the milestone amount at the time of release to the freelancer and covers smart matching, Milestone Payment Protection, payment processing, and dispute resolution.

No fee is charged on cancelled or refunded milestones. Creating an account, posting jobs, and browsing freelancers is completely free.

2. Accepted Payment Methods

All payments are processed securely through Razorpay, a PCI-DSS Level 1 certified payment gateway. We accept:

  • Indian credit / debit cards (Visa, Mastercard, RuPay, Amex)
  • UPI (Google Pay, PhonePe, Paytm, BHIM)
  • Net banking (all major Indian banks)
  • Wallets (Paytm, PhonePe, Amazon Pay)
  • International cards (USD, GBP, EUR, AED, SGD, AUD, CAD)

GigsGenius does not store any card or bank details — these are handled directly by Razorpay.

3. Freelancer Payouts

Approved milestone payments are released to the freelancer's registered bank account within 1-3 business days of client approval. Freelancers must provide a valid bank account, IFSC, and PAN to receive payouts in compliance with Indian tax regulations. Payouts above ₹10,000 are subject to applicable TDS deduction.

4. Refund Policy

  • Funded milestones that have not been released to the freelancer are fully refundable to the client. No platform fee is deducted on refunds.
  • The 10% platform fee applies only when a milestone is successfully completed and released to the freelancer. It is never deducted on a refund.
  • Once work has been submitted by the freelancer, cancellation is subject to mutual agreement or admin-led dispute resolution.
  • Approved refunds are processed to the original payment method within 5-7 business days of approval.
  • Refund requests should be sent to support@gigsgenius.com with the relevant agreement ID and reason.

5. Cancellations

Either party may request a cancellation of a milestone at any stage. Cancellation requests follow a two-step process:

Step 1 — Mutual agreement window (24 hours): Both client and freelancer are notified of the cancellation request and asked to confirm or counter-propose terms.

Step 2 — Admin review (if needed): If both parties cannot agree, the case is escalated to our admin team for review. Admins evaluate the chat history, deliverables submitted, and proportion of work completed to arrive at a fair split.

6. Dispute Resolution

If there is a disagreement on a submitted milestone, either party can raise a dispute by emailing support@gigsgenius.com with the agreement ID, evidence (deliverables, screenshots, communication), and a brief description of the issue.

Our admin team will:

  • Review the dispute within 2 business days of submission.
  • Request additional information from either party if needed.
  • Make a final, binding resolution within 5 business days.
  • Release, refund, or partially split the milestone amount based on findings.

Disputes ruled in the client's favor receive a full refund (no platform fee deducted). Disputes ruled in the freelancer's favor result in full payment release as if the milestone was approved normally.

7. Chargebacks

Initiating a credit card chargeback bypassing this Policy may result in immediate account suspension. We urge clients to resolve issues through our dispute process first — it's faster, fair, and preserves your access to the platform.

8. GST & Taxes

Platform fees are inclusive of applicable GST. Freelancers are responsible for declaring their earnings to the Indian Income Tax Department; we provide payout statements for all completed milestones.
